SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 28

Honoring the women veterans who have served in the armed forces of the United States, and requesting the Division of Culture and History to examine the possibility of a fitting memorial on the grounds of the state capitol in tribute to their service.

Whereas, The women veterans of our state have made sacrifices by their service to our nation's armed forces; and
Whereas, Currently six thousand three hundred West Virginia women are veterans of the armed forces of the United States; and
Whereas, Many women have served and are serving in the armed forces of the United States as enlisted personnel, nurses, doctors, commissioned and noncommissioned officers, pilots and commanding officers; and
Whereas, The military service of women veterans has been recognized with a fitting tribute in our nation's capital with the construction of a statue honoring their service, for which a contribution was made by the West Virginia Legislature of one dollar for each of our state's women veterans; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby recognizes the dedicated service of women veterans who have made sacrifices for the safety and security of all the citizens of the United States by their service in our nation's armed forces; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Senate hereby requests the Division of Culture and History to examine the possibility of placing a fitting memorial on the grounds of the state capitol in tribute to the service ofto the nation's of women veterans; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to fowardforward a copy of this resolution to the appropriate representatives for women veterans aand; the West Virginia Divisions of Veterans Affairs and Culture and History.
